Social infrastructure is being eroded by developers' relentless drive to create new accommodation, either in the form of conversions of older buildings or new-builds. Alienated by the scale, complexities and bureaucracy of the planning process, ordinary Londoners have little to no say in how their neighbourhoods develop.

Community consultations put in place under The Localism Act, which are supposed to hold developers accountable, are often no more than lip service. Local communities lack the tools needed to shape the places they want to live in and use.

This workshop speculated on possible futures. Using data as a starting point, it brought together residents from all over London to explore new possibilities for property development. We thought about ways to have more meaningful discussions with developers and shape our communities for good.
